Woman Killed, Man Injured In U Street Shooting: Police

Police are searching for a suspect in a shooting that killed a woman and injured a man on U Street.

WASHINGTON, DC — A woman was killed and a man was injured in a shooting on U Street Friday night, police said.

The shooting occurred around 10:53 p.m. in the 1600 block of U Street, SE, police said.

Arriving officers located Shawntese Murphy, 30, of Suitland, Md. suffering from a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

An adult male was taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Police are offering $25,000 for information leading to a conviction in this case. Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099 or send an anonymous text message to 50411.
