WASHINGTON, DC — A woman was stabbed to death while walking her dog in a seemingly random attack in D.C. on Wednesday, according to a report.

Police responded to the 400 block of Irving Street NW at around 8:49 p.m., where they found a woman suffering from multiple stab wounds, according to a report from the Metropolitan Police Department.

The woman, identified as 27-year-old Margery Magill of Northwest D.C., was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead, the report states. Police arrested 24-year-old Eliyas Aregahegne of Northwest D.C. and charged him with first degree murder while armed.

NBC Washington reports that Magill was walking a dog for a family when she was stabbed in a seemingly random attack. A nearby resident told the station that he heard two screams and an exclamation of "Oh no!"
