Dr. George Thomas Honored with Prestigious Price Lifetime Achievement Award

Bradenton Cardiology Center proudly announces leading cardiologist and community activist George Thomas, M.D., F.A.C.C., is this year’s Senator Edgar H. Price Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award recipient.

The Manatee County Rural Health Services Foundation Board selected Dr. Thomas as this year’s honoree based on his celebrated medical career and contributions to the health of the community.

Senator Edgar H. Price Jr. Lifetime Achievement Award recipients consistently show they are willing to go that extra step to unselfishly serve others. Their personal contributions, both financial and physical, are a testament to their hard work and dedication to others.

“I am truly honored,” stated Dr. George Thomas. “There are so many physicians in our community who serve admirably the people of Manatee County. They are the true heroes and I accept this on behalf of all those who are working everyday to protect the health and wellbeing of our citizens.  I hope to live up to the legacy of Senator Price, the namesake of this award.”

Dr. George Thomas is a practicing cardiologist and is co-founder of Bradenton Cardiology Center, a comprehensive heart health practice with 11 physicians providing cardiac care to patients in the Manatee/Sarasota area; he has served as its president and CEO. He is involved in many health organizations from the local to national level. Dr. Thomas has been practicing cardiology in Manatee County for more than twenty years. He currently serves as Chair on the Florida Board of Medicine.

Dr. Thomas’ areas of special interests include nuclear cardiology and echocardiography, and he holds a nuclear license. He has served as the chairman of the cardiology committee, chief of medicine, chief of staff, and member of the board of directors of Manatee Memorial Hospital. He was also the president of the Manatee County Medical Society, chairman of the We Care Committee and chairman of the IMG section of the American Medical Association. Outside of medicine, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Manatee Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Directors of the Manatee Community Blood Bank.
