‘The Nutcracker’ to Appear in Local Theaters

The Bolshoi Ballet's rendition of 'The Nutcracker' will play in theaters throughout the Tampa Bay area in time for the holidays.

BRADENTON, FL — Tampa Bay area residents who want to make Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker” a part of their holiday traditions are getting their chance thanks to the Bolshoi Ballet. The ballet’s rendition of the classic is set to appear in movie theaters across the region on Dec. 18.

Tickets for the 12:55 p.m. show are now available online and at participating theaters. The cast for the ballet’s rendition of Tchaikovsky’s classic includes Anna Nikulina as Marie, Denis Rodkin as the Nutcracker and Andrei Merkuriev as Drosselmeyer.

“The Nutcracker” tells the story of Marie’s wooden nutcracker as it transforms into a handsome prince. The pair go on a journey together, but find they must defeat the Mouse King before they can leave.

The Russian Bolshoi Ballet traces its roots back to 1776. Today, the company features more than 250 dancers and is considered one of the largest ballet companies in the world. This is the seventh season the ballet has allowed its performances to screen in movie theaters across the globe.

“The Nutcracker” will play at the following movie theaters in the Tampa Bay area and surrounding counties:

Viewers are urged to check with local theaters for times and dates. While most intend to air the show on Dec. 18, some like Ringling, have different dates and times set.
