SUV Driver Dead In Manatee County Crash: FL Highway Patrol
The driver lost control of his SUV in Palmetto, driving off the road and into a canal with no water, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
PALMETTO, FL — An SUV driver was killed in a Monday evening crash in Palmetto, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.
The 52-year-old Bradenton man lost control of the SUV while traveling east on 49th Street E., approaching 16th Avenue E., around 6:30 p.m.
He drove off the road north onto the grass shoulder, where he hit a guardrail and culvert before entering a canal, which had no water in it, FHP said.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, a 38-year-old Bradenton woman, was seriously injured in the crash and brought to an area hospital.
