12-Year-Old FL Student Arrested For Gun Threat: Police

The seventh-grade student attends Fort Myers Middle School, police said.

FORT MYERS, FL — Officers arrested a 12-year-old student Tuesday for verbally threatening to use a gun at the school, according to the Fort Myers Police Department.

The student attends Fort Myers Middle School, police said.

"There was a thorough investigation conducted and no one was injured during the incident," the department said in a news release.

Police said he is seventh-grade student was charged with fraud-false report use of a firearm in a violent manner and was taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center for booking.

Due to the threat, Fort Myers increased police presence in and around the school.

"These threats will not be tolerated in any of our schools and swift action will be taken if a student chooses to do so," the police department added.

No other details were immediately available.
