• Florida man accused of DUI, driving 100-plus mph on US-41 in Fort Myers (gulfcoastnewsnow.com) — Fort Myers police say a driver was arrested after allegedly going 111 mph in a 40 mph zone on US-41 while appearing impaired. The man refused sobriety and breath tests and now faces DUI and “Super Speeder” charges, marking FMPD’s first arrest under Florida’s new high-speed law.
   

• Pip confirmed in North Fort Myers eagle egg -- a hatch is imminent (wgcu.org) — A bald eagle egg in the famous North Fort Myers nest along Bayshore has finally shown a “pip,” meaning a chick could hatch within 24 to 48 hours. After last season’s heartbreaking loss of both eaglets to avian flu, locals can again watch M15 and F23’s nest drama unfold live on the Southwest Florida Eagle Cam.
