• Gov. Desantis appoints Patricia Petrosky to Lee County Board of County Commissioners (fox4now.com) — A new Lee County commissioner has been appointed in Fort Myers, as Gov. Ron DeSantis named Patricia “Trish” Petrosky to fill the late Mike Greenwell’s District 5 seat, which includes North Fort Myers and Lehigh Acres. She’ll serve until the 2026 election, becoming the first woman on the board since Tammy Hall’s tenure ended in 2013.
   

• Small businesses in Florida could face hiring challenges with new bill (winknews.com) — A proposed Florida law would require every private employer to use E-Verify, and a Fort Myers café owner fears it could raise costs and slow hiring. Supporters say the change is needed to ensure legal compliance, while small businesses worry about losing potential workers if it takes effect in July 2026.
