Pedestrian threatened by two e-bikers on Matanzas Pass Bridge.
Two criminal e-bikers riding to the beach reportedly threatened to murder pedestrian who warned them about illegality of e-bikes on Estero.
Fort Myers Beach, Fl; E-bikes are illegal in Fort Myers Beach, on all of Estero Island. The law clearly states that e-bikes can not be brought onto Estero Island and can not be operated anywhere at all on the island, not even with the motor switched off. Not on the street, not on the beach, and not on the sidewalk. Violators face up to 9 months in Lee County Jail.
The San Carlos Island end of the Matanzas Pass Bridge is as close as e-bikers can legally get to Estero Island without facing jail. E-bikers can lock their e-bikes to a railing located at that end of the bridge, and must cross the bridge on foot.
Only regular, manual petal bicycles without a motor can be brought onto Estero Island and can be ridden on the island.
