Dunbar High School teacher Dan Trembley has just been named a Microsoft Innovative Educator (MIE) Expert joining more than seven hundred educators from the United States and in the MIE Expert program. This is the eighth time Mr. Trembley has been selected to represent the Lee County School District in this cohort of educators from across the world.
The MIE program, which began in 2014, recognizes global educators who are using technology to pave the way for their peers for better learning and student outcomes. The program comprises more than one million educators worldwide who have joined the Microsoft Educator Center and successfully completed professional development online courses, accessed resources, and shared learnings with their colleagues.

When asked how it feels to be selected for the eighth time Mr. Trembley simply said, “I am humbled to be included with such an outstanding group of educators.”
“Dan Trembley has proven his talents as a changemaker in education by consistently striving to provide IT career-related curriculum that stretches beyond the classroom doors,” said Carl C. Burnside, Principal of Dunbar High School. “His impact can be seen by the many IT professionals that have come out of Dunbar High School’s technology programs.”
“Microsoft Innovative Educator Experts are inspiring examples of educators applying new ways of teaching and learning in their classrooms that motivate students and empower them to achieve more,” said Anthony Salcito, Vice President, Worldwide Education, Microsoft. “We celebrate and support the work they do every day!”
