Siena Lakes Staff Members Who Work Alongside Family Members

More than 20 staff members have encouraged their family members to join them at Siena Lakes

Naples, FL - Since opening in June 2021, Siena Lakes has provided its residents with a high-quality retirement lifestyle--and its team members a rewarding place to work. As a result, more than 20 staff members have encouraged their family members to join them at the Erickson Senior Living community in Naples, Fla. Now, more than 50 team members are also family members.

"We love working together," says Communications Supervisor Kim Harley, who encouraged her sister, Katie Harley, to move to Florida and join her at Siena Lakes.

Finding fulfilment

Two years ago, unfulfilled and craving more interaction, Kim began looking for an alternative to her remote employment. That's when her older sister, Natalie, introduced her to Siena Lakes' dining director Bryan Weiss.

"When I learned that people worked for Erickson for 10, 20, or even 30 years, that spoke volumes," she says.

Encouraged by what she learned; Kim applied for a general services coordinator position.

"Connecting with our residents is wonderful," she says. "When I come home every day, I feel like I did something good because I am able to help so many people."

Sister act

In fact, Kim loves her work so much that when her sister Katie visited during Christmas 2023, she invited her to the community's holiday party.

"During that visit, I witnessed the Erickson Senior Living culture in person," Katie recalls. "Executive Director Mike McCormick even said he would be lucky to have another Harley working at Siena Lakes. Most companies don't take that approach--encouraging family members to work together."

Impressed with all Siena Lakes offered its team members, Katie moved from Pennsylvania to begin a new career, also as a general services coordinator.

"If someone had told me that someday we'd be living in Naples, Fla., and working together, I wouldn't have believed it," says Kim, who has since been promoted to the communications supervisor.

"Working together is so special because it gives us the opportunity to work and make an impact together," adds Katie. "We both want to see the residents thrive!"

Looking out for each other

Bridget Weber, who began working at Siena Lakes as a member of the security team, also encouraged her family members to join her at the community.

"It's really team-oriented here," says Bridget, who now works in the medical center as a medical assistant. "Everyone is so friendly, and it feels like a family."

Her mother, Tricia Weber, explains that, "Bridget liked it so much at Siena Lakes, and she was always speaking favorably about the people as well as her work."

Encouraged by this, Tricia applied for a dispatcher position at the community and was hired. When she was promoted to communications supervisor last year, Tricia suggested her son, Brett, interview for her former position.

Now, all three Webers work together at Siena Lakes.

"I'm so comfortable here," says Brett. "I really like coming to work."

"And we all look forward to going to work," says Tricia, who was recently promoted to executive assistant to Siena Lakes' executive director and assistant executive director.

Supportive work environment

In addition to the opportunity to work with family, staff members at Siena Lakes enjoy a competitive, supportive work environment.

Not only is Erickson Senior Living committed to providing all of its residents with the best that life has to offer, but the company is also dedicated to providing all of its employees with financial stability, opportunities for growth, and a healthy work/life balance.

Team members at Siena Lakes enjoy more than just a job. They have encouragement, support, and a caring work family. In addition, Erickson Senior Living offers its employees personalized benefits to meet team members where they are in life, while supporting personal and professional growth, development, and success.

"The services we offer to more than 30,000 residents nationwide are only as good as the people providing them," says Alan Butler, chief executive officer of Erickson Senior Living.

"That is why we take the hiring process very seriously in order to identify the best people. As a growth company with a bright future, we strive to be an employer of choice by providing an unparalleled workplace experience."

Career for life

Siena Lakes Recruiter Lisa Viera isn't surprised that so many team members encourage their family members to work by their side.

"Your job is really important. You have to enjoy what you do," Viera says. "Siena Lakes already feels like a family. Our staff feels valued and appreciated. Naturally, they're inclined to invite family to join them."

The Harley sisters already have planned a career for life.

"Although I'm starting on my career path, I don't want to ever leave here. In fact, when I retire, I want to live at Siena Lakes," says Kim.

Katies agrees. "That's our goal!" she says.
