Waitress, customer get 5 years in prison for video selfie.

Waitress and customer sentenced to 5 years in prison for video selfie at New Jersey restaurant.

Newark, NJ; A waitress and a patron have been sentenced to 5 years in prison for criminal copyright infringement at a place of business after they allegedly did a video selfie while the waitress was at work. The incident reportedly happened at a Miller's Ale House restaurant near Newark, New Jersey on Wednesday, April 9th, 2025 when a patron allegedly took a video selfie with one of the waitresses at the Newark, NJ location. Both were eventually tracked down by the FBI via video surveillance and license plate numbers, the waitress to a gas station in Downtown Newark, and the patron to another restaurant in Midtown Manhattan.

Both were charged with criminal copyright infringement at a facility of business and were sentenced Friday May 2nd by the United States Supreme Court to five (5) years in Federal prison. Both are scheduled to begin serving their sentences on Thursday May 15th.
