'Bad Boys III' Headed Back To MacArthur Causeway
Anyone who saw "Bad Boys II" with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence remembers the big chase scene over the MacArthur Causeway.

MIAMI BEACH, FL -- Anyone who saw "Bad Boys II" with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence remembers the big chase scene over the MacArthur Causeway, but many locals have been wondering ever since why traffic never seems to move that fast when we're trying to get home from work.
The answer is that the scene was shot more than 16 years ago back in August 2002. Not only was it during the slow season, but the causeway was shut down for several days, forcing real commuters to find another way between downtown Miami and South Beach.
If you missed it the first time, you will get a chance to relive the experience with "Bad Boys III" which is planning to once again take over the scenic causeway later this month.

On Sunday, April 14 the causeway will be shut down in both directions at times between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., according to Miami Beach officials.
The westbound lanes will be closed for the full duration of the shoot with intermittent closures expected on the eastbound side.

"Police and fire will have full access during this time in the case of an emergency," Miami Beach officials said.
Motorists are being asked to take the Venetian Causeway or the Julia Tuttle while the shooting takes place.
Director Michael Bay of "Bad Boys II" later confided that his crew somehow got through the entire car chase without damaging the Ferrari used in the scene, but then Martin Lawrence struck a concrete barrier with the passenger side door, according to IMDB.
Tolls on the Venetian Causeway will be suspended during the entire time the MacArthur Causeway is closed.
Miami Beach officials stressed that the film crew has been working with the city, Miami-Dade County and the Florida Department of Transportation to minimize any traffic disruptions this time around.
