Body Of Man Found In Manatee Pond

SARASOTA, FL — The body of a man was found floating in a pond Friday just east of the Publix at 2875 University Parkway.

The discovery was made around 10:44 a.m., according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

"It appears that the victim is a middle-aged white male," said the sheriff's office. "The MCSO dive team arrived and removed the body from the pond. The victim has not been positively identified."

Manatee detectives were attempting to determine how the man died.

"They do not know at this time how the unidentified white male ended up in the pond, or if foul-play is involved," the sheriff's office said. "The body has been transported to the medical examiner’s office for examination."
