FDLE Investigates Fatal Shooting Of Motorist By Trooper
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the fatal shooting earlier this week of a 32-year-old woman near Miami.

MIAMI, FL -- The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the fatal shooting earlier this week of a 32-year-0ld woman by a state trooper.
Latasha Nicole Walton was killed during a traffic stop, which took place just outside the Golden Glades park-and-ride station on Tuesday night, according to FHP.
Cellphone video captured by witnesses showed the moments the trooper opened fire on the white BMW as the vehicle continued to move slowly forward.

"Trooper Ronald Melendez-Bonilla responded to assist another Florida Highway Patrol trooper attempting to stop a vehicle driving erratically," explained FHP spokesman Capt. Thomas E. Pikul. "Recognizing that the subject vehicle was attempting to flee the traffic stop, Trooper Melendez-Bonilla positioned his patrol car in front of the subject vehicle."
Pikul said that the trooper stepped out of his vehicle "due to the unusual behavior of the subject" and drew his handgun.

"The subject ... drove forward in the direction of Trooper Melendez-Bonilla, who fired multiple shots, fatally injuring the subject," FHP said.
FHP said that no further information would be released at this time.
