MIAMI, FL — A fire broke out in a storage room of Miami Edison Senior High School on Sunday afternoon, damaging football equipment, according to Miami Fire Rescue. No one was injured.

Capt. Ignatius Carroll of the agency said the blaze erupted shortly after 1 p.m. and was quickly brought under control by firefighters.

“Fire crews arrived to find a small storage room, attached to the physical fitness building, with flames and smoke showing,” Carroll explained.

He said firefighters kept the fire from spreading to the main school building.

“The weight room was not occupied and no reports of fire or smoke damage was found inside,” said Carroll.

The school principal told first responders that the structure is used to store football equipment.

“The fire investigator responded and determined the fire was not intentionally set and classified the cause as undetermined,” Carroll added. “No evidence was found to indicate arson.”
