MIAMI LAKES, FL -- If you happened to be in Miami Lakes during the morning rush hour on Friday you may have noticed the herd of cows roaming the streets of this Miami suburb.
"Please avoid the Commerce Way area until police return the cows back home," Miami Lakes Mayor Manny Cid advised his residents on social media.
The town's Clarisell De Cardenas told Patch that more than a dozen cows broke free of their pasture when a caretaker opened the gate to feed them during the morning commute.

"When he opened the gate to drive his truck in, the cows ran out," De Cardenas said. "They were out for a little while, but he was able to corral them and put them back in their place, so now they are living happily again in their little area."
The mayor's post prompted some humorous responses.
