Human Head Washes Ashore South Florida Beach: Reports
Police are working to learn how the head was severed from its body, though no other human remains were found near Key Biscayne, reports say.
KEY BISCAYNE, FL — Authorities are working to identify a human head that floated ashore and was found by a beach staffer Tuesday morning near Key Biscayne, media reports say.
“It’s a very sad situation,” resident James Harrington told WSVN. “Well, unfortunately, it seemed like there was a body in a black bag.”
Harrington was reportedly on a morning walk during the discovery.

The head seemingly belonged to a man, NBC News reported, citing Miami-Dade Police Detective Andre Martin.
What led to the head being severed from its body is unknown. No other remains were found.

“We have not been able to determine exactly how the head became separated from the body, but there are a couple working theories,” Martin told NBC News.
