Man Bitten By Shark Near Key Biscayne

A 50-year-old man was injured after being bitten by a shark Saturday morning off the coast of Key Biscayne, according to FWC.

KEY BISCAYNE, FL -- A 50-year-old man was injured after being bitten by a shark Saturday morning off the coast of Key Biscayne, not far from Miami, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

"The FWC was notified at approximately 10 a.m. today about a possible shark bite incident that occurred near Cape Florida beach," Robert Klepper of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission told Patch.

Klepper said that the victim appears to have suffered only minor injuries to his wrist.

"Multiple agencies responded and the victim was transported to the hospital by fire rescue personnel," Klepper explained.

A spokesperson for Miami-Dade Fire Rescue told Patch that they transported the victim to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center from Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park.

"The FWC is looking into the incident to determine what occurred," Klepper added.

WPLG reported that the victim was in an a boat at the time he was bitten.
