MIAMI GARDENS, FL -- A 57-year-old Miami Gardens man was taken into custody late Tuesday and charged with the "heinous" murders of his 10-year-old daughter and wife. He was also charged with seriously injuring a 29-year-old daughter.
"We apprehended the heinous criminal Noel Chambers," declared Miami Gardens Police Chief Delma Noel-Pratt. "Noel Chambers is being charged with two counts of first-degree murder as well as attempted first-degree murder."
The arrest capped off a three-day manhunt that began with the grisly murders Saturday at the family's apartment in the 600 block of NW 177th Street. Chambers was found hiding near Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Station 38 in Miami Gardens late Tuesday.

"MDFR employees at Station 38 quickly did the right thing by notifying the proper authorities," the spokesperson said. "Miami Gardens PD acted swiftly and the arrest was made without any further incident."
A GoFundMe set up by Harris' sister to pay for funeral expenses had raised $7,100 of a $20,000 goal as of early Wednesday morning.
News reports said Chambers allegedly used a machete to carry out the attacks in and around the apartment. His wife died on her birthday.
"We’re just so happy. We can finally be at peace," said Ashley Anderson, whose sister and mother were killed. "My sister she can finally rest."
