MIAMI, FL -- A crackdown on seatbelt violations was planned for Friday afternoon in Miami-Dade County, according to police.

"As part of a Florida Department of Transportation grant initiative, the Miami-Dade Police Department Motorcycle Unit will be conducting high visibility enforcement of seatbelt violations in Miami-Dade County," explained Detective Argemis Colome of the agency.

Colome said the operation was expected to run from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday afternoon into evening.

He said officers will focus on seven problem intersections with high traffic and a high number of crashes or fatalities.

Colome did not say which specific intersections would be included in the crackdown.
