MIAMI, FL -- Miami police suspect that a man shot his wife Thursday before turning the gun on himself in an apparent murder-suicide attempt. The woman later died at Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center but the man was listed in critical condition.

"Miami Police officers responded to SW 23rd Avenue and SW 16th Terrace in reference to a caller who advised that a male and female were shot," explained Officer Kiara Delva of the Miami Police Department.

She said that the call to police was placed by the couple's son, who is a juvenile.

"Homicide detectives are looking closely at the circumstances that led to the female’s death, but the facts surrounding the incident appears to be a murder-attempted suicide, where the father shot and killed the mother and later turned the gun on himself," added Delva.
