9 Dead After South FL Crash

BELLE GLADE, FL — Nine people were killed Monday night after a vehicle crash into a Belle Glade canal, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a Facebook post.

Five of those who died were juveniles, NBC News reported.

The crash happened in the 5800 block of Hatton Highway, the sheriff's office said.

The vehicle overturned and was submerged in the canal around 7:30 p.m., according to The Palm Beach Post.

Four people were pronounced dead at the scene, the sheriff’s office said. Another five died at a local hospital. There was one survivor.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families during this heartbreaking incident,” the sheriff’s office said.
