Doctor Killed In Tulsa Hospital Shooting Studied At Emory: Reports
At Emory University Dr. Preston Phillips earned degrees in organic chemistry, pharmacology and theology.

GEORGIA — One of the four victims who was killed in the Tulsa shooting was a beloved doctor who attended Emory University in Atlanta, according to multiple reports.
On Wednesday, Oklahoma authorities said one of Dr. Preston Phillips’ patients shot and killed him, along with three others at the St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, reported WSB-TV. The gunman is also dead.
Phillips had been in practice for over 20 years, according to a profile on Saint Francis Health System's website. He received several advanced degrees from Emory, including organic chemistry, pharmacology and theology, reported WSB-TV. Phillips also obtained a degree from Harvard Medical School.

The gunman called the clinic repeatedly complaining of pain and specifically targeted Phillips who performed the surgery, said Tulsa Police Chief Wendell Franklin, reported WXIA.

“I am devastated by the senseless tragedy that took the lives of these 3 awesome and amazing individuals,” wrote Dr. Nicholas Thompson in a public post. “They were my colleagues and my friends and I will miss them deeply.”
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of yesterday’s shooting in Tulsa,” wrote Dr. Anil Kaul. “We lost two wonderful heroes, Dr. Stephanie Hasen and Dr. Preston Phillips, serving and saving lives of people in our community."
Phillips also received positive patient reviews online.
"Dr. Phillips is one of the best orthopedic spinal surgeons in Tulsa," one person wrote.
