GA Gas Tax Suspension Extended To July, Ahead Of Memorial Day Weekend: Gov. Kemp

Gov. Kemp announced Thursday that he has extended Georgia's gas tax suspension ahead of the Memorial Day weekend.

GEORGIA — Gov. Brian Kemp has extended the suspension of Georgia's gas tax ahead of the Memorial Day weekend. The measure saves Georgia drivers 29 cents per gallon of gas.

The governor had previously signed a bill in March that paused the gas tax after record-high gas prices in Georgia. It was set to expire May 31. In the new executive order, Kemp extended the tax suspension through July 14.

“I have extended both the suspension of Georgia’s gas tax and the State of Emergency to help with supply chain disruptions ahead of #MemorialDay weekend. Both are now in effect until July 14,” he wrote in a Twitter post.

A second executive order renews Georgia's state of emergency due to supply chain disruptions.

“...We’re responding to record-high inflation and addressing supply chain issues by empowering Georgians to keep their money in their own pockets and keep goods flowing,” Kemp said.
