A South GA Deputy Arrested For Tampering And Paying For Sex: GBI

A south Georgia deputy has been fired after investigators said he was tampering with evidence and paying for sex.

GEORGIA — A south Georgia deputy has been fired after an investigation determined he had been tampering with evidence and paying for sex, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Telfair County Deputy John Warren Degolyer, 35, was arrested May 27. He’s being charged with one count of tampering with evidence, one count for violation of oath of office, and one count of pandering.

On May 20, the Telfair County Sheriff’s Office requested the GBI investigate potential misconduct of Deputy Degolyer, according to GBI.

The investigation revealed that Degolyer tampered with evidence during the course of his duties, although in what way wasn’t yet shared.

The investigation further revealed Degolyer was paying for sexual acts, according to investigators. Investigators say they don’t currently believe Degoyler was paying for sex while on duty.
