Georgia Governor's Race 2022: Kemp, Abrams Set For Debate Monday

The 2022 gubernatorial race pits Gov. Brian Kemp against challenger Stacey Abrams for a second time.

ATLANTA, GA — Republican Gov. Brian Kemp is set to go head-to-head with Democratic challenger Stacey Abrams in a gubernatorial debate Monday—the first day of early voting.

Shane Hazel, the Libertarian candidate in the race, was also invited to the debate.

The Atlanta Press Club will host the debate at 7 p.m. It is closed to the public but will be televised on GPB-TV, according to the Press Club. A livestream of the debate will also be available on the Atlanta Press Club's Facebook page.

The debate is part of the Press Club's Loudermilk-Young Debate Series.

The 2022 race is not the first time Kemp and Abrams have both vied to become Georgia governor. The pair faced off for the seat in 2018, with Kemp defeating Abrams.

Kemp is currently up in the polls, according to RealClear Politics.

A second debate between Abrams and Kemp is planned for Sunday, Oct. 30, according to Atlanta News First.

Former President Barack Obama is scheduled to be in Atlanta that day to campaign for Democratic candidates, including Abrams, according to the Georgia Democrats.
