Georgia Weather: Severe Thunderstorms Possible Through Friday
Storms are expected to develop in north and central Georgia on Thursday and Friday, with some of them having potential for severe weather.
GEORGIA — Numerous thunderstorms are expected to roll through north and central Georgia Thursday and Friday with a chance of some of them developing into severe storms, according to the National Weather Service.
The hazardous weather outlook applies to around 90 counties in the northern and central parts of the state.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to begin Thursday afternoon and last into the evening with a similar forecast Friday. Isolated severe storms are possible with the main threats coming from strong to damaging winds, frequent lightning and heavy rainfall, according to the agency.

The storms bring some relief from the heat as temperatures are expected to reach highs in the 80s in Atlanta throughout the weekend and next week after recent highs in the 90s with heat indices near 100.
Potent storms are expected to develop along the Interstate 20 corridor Thursday and Friday, and motorists should prepare for "torrential downpours," according to Accuweather forecasters.

The storms could bring extremely low visibility as well as ponding on roads. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport may experience "significant delays" and cancellations because of the weather, according to Accuweather.
