Bucs Charge into Second Round, 47-21

Allatoona trailed at halftime but controlled the second half against Franklin County for its first football playoff win.

extended its perfect season with the first football playoff win in school history Friday night, beating Franklin County, 47-21, at home in Acworth.

As usual, running back Miles Jones led the way for the Buccaneers (11-0). He ran for 255 yards on 17 carries, including a 65-yard touchdown on the second play of the game, the Marietta Daily Journal reported.

The Bucs actually trailed at halftime, 21-19, but outscored Franklin County, 28-0, in the second half.

“What an awesome win to a well played game by both teams,” Laurie Ott Uzee wrote on the Allatoona football Facebook page. “It was exciting to watch, but the WIN was the icing on the cake!”

The Bucs, ranked fifth in the state in the Associated Press media poll and the PrepCountry.com/GACA coaches poll, will be home for the second round of the Georgia High School Association’s AAA playoffs next week, hosting Mary Persons (9-2).

The Bulldogs, ranked 10th in the state in the latest coaches poll, beat Americus-Sumter, 54-20, Friday night.
