Toddler Shoots Self: No Charges Yet, Says Police (Update)
Detectives will not meet with the district attorney's office until after they've completed their investigation, Acworth police said Thursday

Acworth police detectives will speak to the Cobb County District Attorney’s office following the completion of their investigation into the accidental shooting death of a 2-year-old to determine whether the child’s father should be charged in the incident, the department said Thursday afternoon.
Officers responded to the home in the 1000 block of Athena Court at approximately 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in reference to a person shot call. Upon arrival, officers discovered the 2-year-old son of Grant Dennington dead inside the home while Dennington and his 4-year-old son were unharmed, according to police.
Detectives investigating the scene believe the child was able to retrieve a semi-automatic handgun from a bed and accidentally shoot himself in the head with the weapon, police said. Family members of the slain child have been interviewed and several items have been removed from the home to be analyzed as part of the investigation.
