It was another record-setting day for the Acworth Police Department, which took back 115 pounds of medications during this past Saturday's National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

The event aimed to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of unused, out of date, and no longer needed prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medication.

The Acworth Police Department was at the CVS on Baker Road in the Publix Shopping Center taking prescription medication that needed to be destroyed.

"Thank you to all who participated and helped keep these medications out of our water supplies, environment and off the streets," the Acworth PD posted on its Facebook page. "Thank you and remember we are a 24/7 drop off facility, just come by the Police Department and we will dispose of your medication properly."

The department is located at 4400 Acworth Industrial Drive. Call 770-974-1232 for more information.
