It's a holiday full of sweet treats, exciting activities, and, most importantly, love. It’s an excuse to splurge a little extra on the ones you care about most. No, it’s not Valentine’s Day-- it’s Galentine’s Day! The love you have for your ladies has no limit, so why limit the holiday to just one day? This year, February 13 and 14 are all about you and your best girls. So pack your bags, grab your gals and head to Athens, Georgia!  

For the Art Lovers

Show your creative side at ARTni's Art Studio, Gallery and Lounge. ARTini's is a great place to celebrate Galentine's Day! No prior painting experience needed, just show up ready to have a fun time. You will receive step-by-step directions from very talented artist instructors all throughout your painting process. Be sure to arrive thirsty, ARTini's has a wonderful selection of white, red and sparkling wines for you and your girls to sip on while creating your masterpieces. At the end of the session, everyone leaves with a wonderful, one-of-a-kind piece of artwork, which is the perfect souvenir to bring back home with you. 

If you prefer to create artwork surrounded by artwork, be sure to head out to the Georgia Museum of Art on February 13th to experience Drawing in the Galleries. This program is led by teaching artist Phil Jasen, and provides drawing instruction, art supplies and enough space to spread out in the galleries. Have so much fun seeing the artistic abilities of your girlfriends, while being able to explore the amazing exhibits the Georgia Museum of Art has to offer. Plus, admission to the museum and the Drawing in the Galleries program is free; the perfect activity if you and your gal pals are on a budget.

For the Foodies

• No holiday is complete without food. Wine and dine yourselves at one of Athens' many highly-rated restaurants for a taste of fine Southern cuisine. Butcher & Vine is offering a special Valentine's Day menu that is sure to be delectable. Their delicious charcuterie boards and sandwiches are made with such attention to detail it is unlike anything else.
• For a bit of a more casual girl's night, choose RuSan's Athens. Devour delicious sushi, poke bowls or even try one of their amazing fried rice dishes. Plus you get a free dessert with the purchase of an entree on Valentine's Day!
• Looking for something a bit more fancy and unique? The State Botanical Garden of Georgia is hosting a Valentine's Day Brunch. On February 13th, you and your girlfriends can enjoy an amazing meal, while listening to live music in the Visitor Center and Conservatory. Attendees are also gifted a beautiful blooming orchid plant to take home with them!
• If you're in need of an after-dinner drink, Wednesdays in Athens means Ladies' Nights at The Root. It may not be occurring on Galentine's Day, but that does not mean you can't go have a drink with your girls! Head there on February 16th to enjoy a plethora of delicious drinks. Nothing brings a smile quite like a happy hour! 

For the gals with a sweet tooth

For the Active Girls

Throw the night away with your best girl friends at LumberJaxe Axe Throwing! Come hang out in their spacious lounge which local serves beer, wine, and other drinks. Never thrown an axe before, no worries, LumberJaxe has amazing trainers that will help and guide your session. Enjoy some friendly competition amongst your friends and see who can be the first to hit a bullseye!

Pack your yoga mats and get ready for an afternoon full of relaxation and zen! Head to FUEL Hot Yoga on February 13 for a calming Yin Yoga practice with your girls. After your yoga session, be sure to stop by Urban Sanctuary and unwind even more. Treat yourself and your best friends to one of their amazing facials or massages. This Galentine's Day is all about revitalization and focusing on self-care. 

Lace-up those skates and go for a spin on the ice! Athens on Ice at the 440 Foundry Pavilion is open on February 13. Even if you can barely stay on your feet, Athens on Ice is a great way for you and your girls to spend time together, and maybe share a laugh or two. Afterward, warm up with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate from 1000 Faces Coffee, conveniently located just steps away.

For the Game and Music Lovers

If you desire more entertainment and interactive fun, stop by Southern Brewing Company for trivia on February 13. General Knowledge Trivia occurs every Sunday, but this year it falls perfectly on Galentine's Day! Test your knowledge with your girlfriends and see how well you do. The top three teams even win a prize! Another great place to go if you and your gals want to show off your competitive side is The Rook and Pawn. Along with an amazing food and drink menu, this board game cafe houses over 800 table top games for you and your girlfriends to play. 

Spending Galentine's Day in Athens is sure to sound like music to your ears-- literally! Come out and enjoy classical music in the Classic City. One of the most celebrated violinists of his era, Joshua Bell, will be performing at the UGA Performing Arts Center on February 11th. His Grammy winning albums will be sure to will be sure to amaze and impress. But, if you and your girls prefer to make music instead of listening to it, head over to Shokitini and rent out a private karaoke room. Be sure to pick songs by your favorite top female artists and have a blast singing at the top of your lungs with your best friends.
