• 5 St. Mary's Colleagues From Across Region Awarded Nursing Education Scholarships (athensceo.com) — St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation has awarded five $2,500 Marilyn Brown Nursing Scholarships, including to staff working at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens and an Athens resident studying at Athens Tech. The recipients span ICU, emergency, and critical care roles and are pursuing advanced nursing degrees. Their training is aimed at strengthening patient care across Athens and the broader region.

(drbicuspid.com) — A 74-year-old man accused of shooting a dental assistant at McRae Family Dental in Athens is now jailed without bail after being released from the hospital. Police say the December 1 attack, reported by a coworker who heard gunshots, is being treated as domestic violence while state investigators review the case.
