• Empty Stocking Fund helps Athens families facing hardships (onlineathens.com) — Athens families facing eviction or other financial crises can get help this holiday season through the Athens Banner-Herald Empty Stocking Fund, now open and already responding to rising housing costs. Run with the Athens Area Community Foundation, the fund has raised over $49,000 so far and is still seeking donations to cover utilities, medical bills, car repairs, and other essentials for local households.
   

• Another pedestrian struck by car in downtown Athens crosswalk (classiccitynews.com) — A University of Georgia student was injured in a downtown Athens crosswalk last month, becoming the seventh pedestrian hit by a vehicle there this year. The driver, a 36‑year‑old Athens man, was later arrested, highlighting growing safety concerns after several serious crashes, including one that killed a 78‑year‑old pedestrian in January.
   

• ACCA expands support for Athens' seniors through food assistance and year-round care (redandblack.com) — Athens’ Community Council on Aging is ramping up food assistance and year‑round services to help local seniors facing shrinking federal support and rising need. From Turkeypalooza meal packages to transportation, dementia resources, and intergenerational volunteer programs, ACCA and its partners are working to make Athens a safer, more dignified place to grow older.
