GA Bulldogs Player Arrested, Accused Of Physically Harming Ex
UGA wide receiver Colbie Young was accused of battery and assault of an unborn child, an incident report obtained by Patch showed Tuesday.
ATHENS, GA — Another University of Georgia football player is facing charges amid the team's storied history of arrests.
Colbie Young, No. 8 wide receiver for the Georgia Bulldogs, was arrested early Tuesday and charged on suspicion of battery and assault of an unborn child - both misdemeanors, according to an incident report obtained by Patch.
"This is a pending legal matter, we will have no further comment at this time," UGA Athletic Association spokesperson Steven Drummond said when asked about the arrest.

The charges against Young, a 22-year-old senior, stem from allegations he tried to physically harm his ex-girlfriend when she arrived at his apartment around midnight to talk about their relationship, according to the incident report. The woman told police she was at the apartment for 20 minutes.
The conversation between the pair became heated after the woman discovered Young was on the phone with another woman, the report stated.

The ex-girlfriend told police that "Young grabbed her left arm near her bicep and tricep and physically pulled her out of his room."
The woman accused Young of making derogatory and demeaning statements toward her. He then returned to his room, closed the door and locked it, the incident report said.
While the woman was on the phone with a friend, Young "came out and grabbed her from behind. She said that he picked her up and began to squeeze her torso and abdomen very hard. She said she felt like (Young) was trying to harm her,'" read the report.
Police saw a bruise and discoloration on the bottom right side of the woman's chest, near the abdomen, and redness on her right side, the report stated. An officer took the woman to a local hospital.
When officers questioned Young about the events, police said Young initially told officers nothing happened but later said he escorted the woman to the door after the conversation between the two of them escalated.
Young told officers the woman's bruises did not come from, the report stated. He was arrested and taken to the Clarke County Jail.
Kim Stephens, Young's attorney, said in a statement to the sports news outlet that Young was not physical with the woman and added he would be exonerated of the allegations.
Dawgs Nation, owned by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, said the bond for Young was set at $2,500.
Young previously played for the University of Miami Hurricanes and the Lackawanna College Falcons.

Seven UGA players have been arrested since March, Dawgs Nation reported; however, multiple players were arrested on various charges in 2023, according to previous Patch reports.
University of Georgia linebacker Smael Mondon and offensive lineman Bo Hughley were arrested in mid-July. Mondon was charged on suspicion of racing on highway streets and reckless driving, and Hughley was charged on suspicion of failure to maintain proper lane and reckless driving.
At that time, driving under the influence charges were reportedly dropped against UGA running back Trevor Etienne.
Rodarius "Rara" Thomas, a former wide receiver for UGA, was charged on suspicion of false imprisonment and family violence battery charges in January 2023. Dawgs Nation reported Thomas has since been let go from the Bulldogs.
Other UGA players, Sacovie White and Daniel Harries, have also been arrested this year on driving-related charges, Dawgs Nation reported.
