  1. Local independent news outlet Canopy Atlanta has plans to launch the Documenters Network program in the city. Sonam Vashi, co-founder and co-director of Canopy Atlanta, and Mak Resnik, Documenters Network Manager at City Bureau, spoke about the program on "Closer Look" this Thursday. The program would train and pay citizens to attend public meetings and take notes, which would be fact-checked and summarized in newsletter format. (WABE 90.1 FM)
  2. Pink Floyd's Roger Waters will continue his 2022 tour with a stop in Atlanta's State Farm Arena on Saturday, Aug. 20. The musician kicked off his "This Is Not A Drill" North American tour on Wednesday, Jul. 6 in Pittsburgh. Tickets for the show can be purchased at ticketmaster.com. (THE PEACH REVIEW)
  3. Children's Healthcare of Atlanta mourns the loss of Casper, the facility's beloved longtime therapy dog. Casper the golden retriever, who started his work with the hospital 13 years ago, passed away peacefully at the age of 15. The hospital asks anyone who has been positively impacted by "Caspy" to share their memories on the Children's Healthcare Facebook page. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
  4. The Fulton County Health Department's monkeypox vaccination clinic this weekend — which focused on vaccinating the gay community — filled up within hours. According to the World Health Organization, monkeypox is currently spreading amongst gay men, though health officials note anyone can get the virus. The county plans to hold additional clinics once it receives more vaccines. (CBS 46 News)
  5. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis hopes Senator Lindsey Graham changes his mind about testifying before the grand jury that is investigating former President Donald Trump and the 2020 election. “It is my hope that Sen. Graham will have a moment of quiet reflection and decide to bring truthful testimony before this grand jury,” the DA said to Channel 2 Action News on Thursday. According to Willis, as many as 20 people are under subpoena to testify by the month's end. (WSB Atlanta)
