Georgia Weekend Weather: Thunderstorms Possible, Then Likely

The weekend is starting with a limited storm threat Friday afternoon, mainly north of I-20 and I-85. Locally heavy rain, occasional cloud to ground lightning, and brief gusty winds will be the primary threats, according to the National Weather Service.

There will be another chance for an afternoon shower or storm on Saturday, but otherwise the day will be partly sunny.

The best chance for showers and thunderstorms is Sunday, after 9 a.m. Winds could gust up to 15 mph.

The system may include large hail and damaging winds, according to the Weather Channel.

Monday will start with another storm threat, but skies should clear for the week.

Sunday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 9am. Cloudy, with a high near 81. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Monday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 85.
