Here are the top five stories in Atlanta today:

  1. A juvenile has been charged with stealing an Atlanta Police Department vehicle. According to police, the juvenile has been arrested on charges of theft by receiving stolen property and interference with government property. Police noticed the car was missing from a parking deck at 370 Northside Dr. on Jun. 29. Security footage showed the car was stolen at 3:20 a.m. that morning and the vehicle was found later that day. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
  2. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, the prosecutor investigating the conduct of former President Donald Trump and his allies after the 2020 election, is seeking the testimonies of U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, and others. Petitions have been filed with the judge overseeing the special grand jury. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney signed a "certificate of material witness" for Graham, Giuliani, and others saying that they have been deemed necessary to the investigation. Giuliani and Graham's representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment. (Patch)
  3. An Atlanta police officer recently helped deliver a baby at a gas station. Lieutenant Renato Anaya was escorting a pregnant couple to the hospital for delivery when the situation became dire and they all had to pull into a gas station. Anaya and his partner, Sgt. Thomas, got out of their vehicle and attempted to help. In the early morning hours of Jun. 25, a baby boy was born. “You just have to expect the unexpected. Even though we’re out there patrolling, you just have to be ready for whatever comes at you,” Anaya said of the incidnet. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  4. Travelers faced delays and cancellations at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport as they returned from the holiday weekend. Travelers described a weekend filled with multiple delays, damaged luggage, and spending several hours on tarmacs. The majority of delays involved Delta flights. Airlines are citing staffing shortages and pilots going into early retirement as reasons for the delays. (11Alive.com WXIA)
