Fulton County pulling funds from homeless housing program could mean big problems for hundreds (wsbtv.com) — Hundreds of Atlantans experiencing homelessness could lose access to new supportive housing because Fulton County is pulling $2 million it previously committed to the Home First partnership with the City of Atlanta. Advocates warn developments may sit vacant without service funding and are urging residents to speak out before commissioners finalize the 2026 budget on January 21.
   

2. Atlanta, GA – Crash with Injuries Reported Eastbound on Capitol Ave SE (localaccidentreports.com) — Emergency crews responded late Monday to a crash with injuries on eastbound Capitol Ave SE in Atlanta, drawing paramedics and fire crews around 10:30 p.m. Investigators are still working to determine what caused the collision, and officials have not yet released details on the number or severity of injuries.

Man used costumes as disguises in armed robberies across metro Atlanta, FBI says (wsbtv.com) — FBI agents in Atlanta say a suspect used costumes to carry out at least 11 armed robberies at stores and restaurants across metro Atlanta, including DeKalb, Cobb, Gwinnett and Fulton counties. Investigators believe more cases may be connected and are asking anyone with information about additional robberies to contact the FBI’s Atlanta field office.
   

4. Beloved dog who has walked for peace alongside Monks is healing now after undergoing surgery (11alive.com) — Atlanta residents who’ve spotted Aloka the Peace Dog on his peaceful walks will be glad to know he’s steadily recovering after surgery and now undergoing gentle physical therapy. Caretakers say there’s no firm timeline for his long-distance walks to resume, but his strength and mobility are improving daily as supporters send encouragement.
   

5. Decatur parents call for greater transparency from school board (atlantanewsfirst.com) — Parents in Decatur, covered by Atlanta-based reporters, are pressing the City Schools of Decatur board for more transparency about possible K-2 school closures and a proposed $23 million Early Childhood Learning Center. Many say trust has been broken after a draft letter appeared to single out Westchester Elementary, and some are demanding leaders halt major decisions until concerns are addressed.
