VIDEO: Georgia Aquarium Sea Lion Shows Off Fancy Dance Moves

ATLANTA, GA—The dance moves of Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez have absolutely nothing on a talented sea lion who calls Georgia Aquarium home. Neptune, the sea lion, recently went viral after video of him surfaced on TikTok dancing his little heart away with his trainer.

The video, which was posted on the social media platform June 22, has racked up more than 23 million views, 4.1 million likes and more than 27,500 comments.

"The seal dances better than me," one person commented.

"My favorite video! I can watch this over and over and over," another person posted.

In the video, Neptune and his trainer get down to the popular TikTok song, "Wow, you can really dance." The adorable sea lion shakes his tush from side to side, while bobbing his head up and down and flapping his flippers around like nobody's business. At the end of his impressive jig, he slides on his belly and points his tail up in the air for a grand finale.

Neptune, a 7-year-old male, joined Georgia Aquarium in August 2015 after he was deemed non-releasable by the federal government. Before Neptune came to the aquarium, he was rescued three times by different marine mammal centers in California. An aquarium spokesperson said he was found with fishing hooks in his flippers, and upon further examination, bullet fragments in his head were also discovered.

According to Georgia Aquarium officials, once an animal has been deemed non-releasable, a home must be found in order to help care for the animal.

"The rescue of sea lions is important because they help Georgia Aquarium and the zoological community educate the public about these animals and the issues they face in the wild," said Anslee Schroeder, a Georgia Aquarium spokesperson.

Not only does Neptune now have a forever home at Georgia Aquarium, but he also receives top of the line care from the aquarium's team of trained veterinarians and animal care staff.
