Katy Galli, a freshman women's track and field star, has been selected as the Petrel Council's Athlete-of-the-Week for her outstanding performances in recent meets.
A freshman from Hackenstown, N.J., Galli enjoyed an amazing individual meet in Jackson, Miss. last Saturday, March 3. She won three events outright and broke an Oglethorpe school-record in the process.
Galli won both the long jump and the triple jump before setting the school record in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.99, her third victory of the day. She now holds four Oglethorpe women’s track records after having competed in just four meets in her brief career: the indoor triple jump, indoor 60 meter hurdles, outdoor 100 meter hurdles and a share of the 4x400 meter relay record.
