Booth Opens Kids Outreach Exhibit

Serving kids enrolled in the local Boys & Girls Club and Hands of Christ after school programs, 's Kids Cowboy Up! exposes children to art at a young age and often provides the students with their first museum experience. Through visits to the Booth, regular visits by museum education staff members and a variety of hands-on activities, children learn about the basic elements of sculpture, printmaking, pottery, drawing, painting and collage. 

Peggy Cline is the Booth's lead staff member who develops programs and activities that helps develop children’s interest in art.

“It's really difficult to sum up Peggy's influence and service to our members," said Boys & Girls Club Executive Director Gordon Gilley. "[Since 2004], she has provided not only her expertise in the Arts, but also her compassion for hundreds of the youth we serve here at the . Her weekly visits have proven to be one of the highlights of our Cultural Enrichment Program.”

The highlight of the Kids Cowboy Up! program is a special display of the children’s artwork, now in its eighth year and on display now through Jan. 8. Exciting paintings, drawings, sculptures and pottery produced by the children of the Boys & Girls Club and Hands of Christ After School program throughout the past year make up the exhibition.

A Meet the Artists Reception is set for the children Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m.

In conjunction with the reception, the Booth will host its monthly third-Thursday lecture at 7 p.m. Artists Kyle Sims and Kyle Polzin are both only in their 30s, but have developed large followings, and each have a piece of artwork in the Booth’s exhibition. Enjoy an Evening with the Kyle’s and hear both of these young artists share the stories of their developing artistic careers and remarkable paintings.
