
Sgt. Mike Bettikofer is the Cartersville Police Department’s Officer of the Quarter for the fourth quarter of 2011, and Officer of the Year for 2011.
Chief Thomas N. Culpepper announced the decisions during a recent monthly staff meeting.
According to Chief Culpepper, “Sgt. Bettikofer has proven himself to be a well-rounded officer who excels in performance, positive attitude, and support of agency goals and policies. Sgt. Bettikofer exemplifies the principles of leadership every day.”

Culpepper went on to state that the Officer of the Quarter selection was not an easy choice. Other officers who were considered on the basis of their excellent performance included Investigator David Bojczuk, Officer Derek Bentley and Officer Bryson-Taylor Banks. Bojczuk, Bentley and Banks received citations for their work and professionalism.
The Officer of the Year is selected from among the four Officers of the Quarter in a given year. For 2011, in addition to Sgt. Bettikofer, these officers were Lt. Kevin Cloninger, Officer Greg Sparacio and Officer Eric Williams.

Sgt. Bettikofer has been with the Cartersville Police Department for three years. Prior to coming to Cartersville, he had 13 years of law enforcement experience in Ohio and Georgia.
