Chamber Endorses Pageant Sponsorships

Miss Georgia USA and Miss Georgia Teen USA pageants boost the local economy by more than $200,000 each year.

The local has endorsed community sponsorships for the Miss Georgia USA and Miss Georgia Teen USA pageants set for Nov. 15 to 17 at 's Performing Arts Center, Cartersville-Bartow County Convention & Visitors Bureau announced.

“Our board of directors overwhelming endorsed the economic value of the pageants and we look forward to the opportunity to team with the CVB on this effort,” Chamber President and CEO Joe Frank Harris Jr said in a press release.

Annually, the pageants boost the local economy by more than $200,000.

“The pageant event is one of our two major statewide events that occur in Bartow County," said Melinda Lemmon, director of Cartersville-Bartow County Department of Economic Development. "It puts such a good spotlight on our community and it really shows how progressive Cartersville has become.”

But CVB Executive Director Ellen Archer cautions “it would not be possible to host the pageant productions without the support of community sponsorship.”

The CVB and Chamber hope to raise a collective $20,000 to cover costs related to theater rental, transportation and meals for 150 contestants throughout the three-day period.

A sponsorship drive now underway allows community members to promote their businesses for as few as $150. Packages include such promotional benefits as print advertising in three publications, logos on souvenir shopping bags presented to pageant contestants and families, pageant tickets, audience recognition, direct sales exhibit space at four events and yearlong online advertising. Additional packages offer unique promotional opportunities for select businesses.

“This is an important event for our community both in revenue and exposure,” said Bruce A. Thompson, Chamber chairman.
