Couple Gave Child Drink Spiked With Meth: Cops
The child's uncle and his girlfriend, who live in Bartow County, have been charged in connection to the incident.

FLOYD COUNTY, GA — A Bartow County couple was arrested and charged after a child was rushed to the hospital for ingesting methamphetamine, the Floyd County Police Department said.
Kingston residents Ashley Lee Sexton, 27, and Joshua Lamar Teems, 29, were charged with one count each of cruelty to children in the second degree. Teems was also charged with possession of marijuana less than an ounce.
Floyd County police Sgt. Matt Meyers told Patch his agency was informed about the incident when the child was taken to Floyd Medical Center on Saturday, Jan. 12. The child was having some "medical issues," and subsequent testing indicated the child was "under the influence" of suspected methamphetamine, the sergeant added.

Meyers said investigators learned the child ingested the drug through a drink he was given by the pair. The sergeant said Teems is the child's uncle and Sexton is his girlfriend. The child's mother was at work when the incident unfolded.
Floyd County Jail records show the couple was arrested on Monday, Jan. 14. A Floyd County Magistrate Court set bond at $7,900 for Teems and Sexton. The child has been released from the hospital.
