Man Killed In Bartow County Crash

The 21-year-old driver died Thursday evening in an accident on I-75 near mile marker 293.

BARTOW COUNTY, GA — An Alabama resident died Thursday evening in a single-vehicle crash in Bartow County, the Georgia State Patrol told Patch.

The fatal collision occurred around 8 p.m. Jan. 10 on the southbound side of Interstate 75 near mile marker 293. According to the state agency, the driver of a 2002 Nissan Maxima was trying to negotiate a right curve when it veered off the road and into the median, continued through a ditch and up the embankment.

The Maxima rotated counter-clockwise, struck a tree on its right side and came to a stop. The driver, Jackson D. Rumley, 21, of Madison, Alabama, was pronounced dead at the scene, GSP added.

The areas of impact of the crash were in the center median of the interstate. The accident remains under investigation.
