Police: Woman, Drunk, Visits Jail Inmate

A woman who registered more than two times the legal limit and admitted to driving herself to the found herself behind bars Wednesday following video visitation with an inmate.

Deputies about 9 p.m. noticed 53-year-old Kimberly Dea Collins of Cartersville due to her behavior, but it was what they heard that led to testing and booking, according to the report.

Collins allegedly admitted to a female inmate that she had been drinking and a jail officer said she overheard it via the jail's audio-video surveillance system.

A second deputy said Collins was incoherent, smelled of alcohol and admitted to drinking and driving. Deputies administered a breath test, and Collins registered .175.

During the booking process, authorities found a small, blue pill in Collins' pocket, which she said was Xanax. The Wayne Avenue woman said she has a prescription but left the bottle at home.

Collins was arrested and jailed on DUI and possession of a medication not in original container charges. Thursday, she remained in jail awaiting bonding.
