Pot, Meth And Not Stopping For School Bus: Cartersville Crime
A man was arrested on drug charges and a woman failed to stop for a school bus unloading in Cartersville crime recently.
CARTERSVILLE, GA -- The Cartersville Police Department provided the following information about recent incidents in the city. Arrests do not equal convictions.
- A 54-year-old man was arrested May 7 and charged with possession of marijuana less than 1 oz., possession of drug related objects, no insurance. According to a police report, more charges are pending GBI Crime Lab results. The man was pulled over in the area of Joe Frank Harris Parkway and Oak Hill Circle and was unable to provide proof of insurance. He also showed an active probation through Cartersville. The man told police there wasn't anything illegal in the vehicle and granted consent to search. During the search of the vehicle, a plastic bag containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be methamphetamine, a plastic bag containing a green leafy substance suspected to be marijuana, a glass pipe suspected to be a marijuana pipe and a black digital scale were located under the driver seat. The suspected methamphetamine (approx. 1.2 grams) was placed into evidence for safe keeping and to be sent off to the GBI Crime Lab for testing. The suspected marijuana (approx. 0.6 grams) was placed into evidence for safe keeping and to be tested. The glass pipe and digital scale were placed into evidence for safe keeping.
- A 20-year-old woman was arrested on charges of driving while license suspended or revoked, failure to stop for school bus loading/unloading, May 7. According to the police report, an officer saw the woman fail to stop when a school bus was stopped, displaying its red flashing lights and stop sign to show that it was unloading children on Cassville Rd. The woman told the officer she did not notice the bus stopped and that she was just coming off of third shift and that she was very tired.
- A 47-year-old man was arrested and charged with probation violation, May 7.
