3x3 Basketball Tournament With $20K Prize Coming To Douglasville

Radio personality Cory "CoCo Brother" Condrey will host the 3x3 basketball tournament at Rainfire Arena starting next month.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — A half-court basketball competition — with a $20,000 grand prize for the winner — is coming to Douglasville in September, when Radio Condrey will host a 3x3 basketball tournament at the Rainfire Arena.

“There’s no better place to host this global-size tournament,” said gospel radio personality Cory “CoCo Brother” Condrey, owner of Radio Condrey. “Douglasville and Douglas County are beautiful places to live, work and play.”

With Douglasville located less than half an hour from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Condrey said the tournament will be ideally located to draw the best players from around the world.

Elimination games begin on Sept. 24, with finals on Oct. 8-9. It’s free to enter, but entrants must be at least 13 years old, Condrey said. The tournament is open to the public, with no charge to attend.

Played for years informally as a type of streetball, 3x3 basketball — played on a half court with a single backboard — slowly began to legitimize itself through tournaments in the 1990s. The 2020 Tokyo Olympics helped raise awareness of the game, with Team USA dominating to win gold in the sport’s first appearance in the Olympics.
