Fatal Hit-And-Run In Douglas County Prompts GSP Investigation

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a fatal hit-and-run that happened Jan. 30 on Interstate 20 in Douglas County.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, GA — No arrests have been made in a fatal hit-and-run in Douglas County on Jan. 30, and the Georgia State Patrol is still investigating the incident.

The crash took place on Interstate 20 westbound Jan. 30 with the suspect car identified as a 2010 BMW X5, the Douglas County Sentinel reported.

Several Villa Rica residents saw law enforcement at a home on Crooked Creek Lane on Feb. 1, and a GSP spokesperson told the Sentinel that the BMW parked in the driveway had damage that matched the description of the debris on scene.

The BMW was seized with a search warrant and taken to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office for processing.

"We are working to determine the driver of the BMW at the time of the crash," a spokesperson for the Georgia State Patrol told Patch in an email Tuesday night.
